WHAT TO GET

cake

2 cups flour

1 cup buttermilk

1 stick melted butter

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon baking powder

¼ teaspoon cinnamon

¼ teaspoon nutmeg

2 eggs

1 pinch salt

⅓ cup brown sugar

2 tablespoons fresh coffee

1 teaspoon butter for coating baking pan evenly

1 teaspoon flour for dusting butter for pan (just enough to stick to butter)

streusel topping

¾ cups oats

⅓ cup AP flour

6 tablespoons brown sugar

½ stick melted butter

¼ cup candied pecans

⅛ teaspoon nutmeg

½ teaspoon cinnamon

yogurt topping

½ cup greek yogurt

1 teaspoon honey

⅛ teaspoon cinnamon

⅛ teaspoon nutmeg

⅛ teaspoon vanilla

 

WHAT TO DO

cake

1.    preheat oven to 350 degrees

2.   whisk all ingredients in bowl together until smooth

3.   place in buttered and floured baking dish

4.   spoon streusel on top cake

5.    bake until top is golden brown, and center is cooked (20-30 minutes)

1.    mix together evenly in bowl and spoon on top cake

1.    whisk together in bowl

2.   place dollop on top baked cake for garnish

Instructions

Method For Pears

-      Bring water to simmer in sauce pan

-      Slice the bottoms off the pears, and stand the pears in the water

-      Add remaining ingredients to the sauce pan

-      Cook until pears are tender

Method For Black Coffee Caramel Sauce

-      Heat butter, vanilla extract, brown sugar and coffee in a cask iron skillet

-      Stir in half & half

-      Whisk together, and cook until sauce thickens

-      Serve over pouched pears

  • 1 cup half and half

  • 2 tablespoons very strongly brewed black coffee
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
